When you become a client of Outpost Advisors, we join with you in the journey of crafting a vision and setting goals. We don’t want to make you into a copy of ourselves and we actually get excited to see all of the divergent ways that families are wired. It makes our job interesting and really fun.  That being said, you may want to know what it is that makes us tick, so we’ve spent some time putting our values into words here for you.

Faithfulness / Discipleship / Wisdom / Legacy / Priorities / Brutal honesty

Faithfulness

Looking for a shortcut to riches and fulfillment?  We may not be the firm for you. We do what we say we will do, and will continue to do so over the long haul, no matter what.

Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
— Proverbs 13:11

Discipleship

At Outpost Advisors we trace our character and development back to the people who have given their time and effort to teach us who to be and how to operate. Our intention is to be people who follow the ancient practice of learning and teaching by walking alongside others through life, producing others who do the same.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
— Proverbs 27:17

Wisdom

While we aren’t the fount of wisdom, we are always on the hunt for it. Built into our entire model - even in recruiting a broad network of mentors - is the belief that wisdom, drawn from experience and shared through skill, is the doorway to every good path. We seek wisdom for ourselves and intend to furnish it to our clients.

By wisdom a home is built and by prudence it is established.
— Proverbs 24:3

Legacy

We always push our clients to think about why they have been entrusted with resources. Could it be that those who have been faithful in little are exactly the types to have an impact that goes far beyond their own life? We think so. Our value of legacy informs how we think about generosity, multigenerational wealth and family culture. (Quick tip: legacy is not just about money!)

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.
— Proverbs 13:22

Priorities

Money is the easy part (no really). We believe that considering every type of capital that you can acquire and prioritizing the ones that have the most value is one of the most important steps in creating a vision for your life and, consequently, your finances. We also believe that keeping priorities in the right order will profit all of the capitals we’re assigned to manage.

How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!
— Proverbs 16:16

Brutal Honesty

As we’ve said elsewhere, many financial industry types smile at their clients while bilking them out of their life savings behind their backs. Sometimes, though, you need a trusted advisor to look you in the eye and tell you the truth, even if it’s not rosy. At Outpost Advisors, we believe in brutal honesty, both in how we speak to you and in how we conduct ourselves on your behalf behind closed doors. This impacts everything from our fee structure to our conversations on budgeting habits.  We’ll be up front, in an effort to serve you, no matter what.

Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
— Proverbs 27:6
